Q: How are your ceramics made?

A: Every piece is made by hand from a lump of clay to fully fired and ready ceramics. All of my pieces are thrown on a pottery wheel. All of the lettering is individually stamped and  then filled in with a black underglaze after it has been fired once. At this stage, I also add my screen prints. All of the images on my ceramics are screen printed by me with an ink that I make. I transfer the images onto each piece like a temporary tattoo. However, after I fire it again in my kiln, it becomes permanent. 

Q: Are any two pieces ever alike?

A: Nope! They may be similar in glaze and shape, however, because of the handmade process, no two will ever be exactly alike.

Q: Are all the pieces food, dishwasher, and microwave safe?

A: They are! Everything is 100% food safe. Each piece can also go into the microwave and dishwasher. I have been told that the temperature changes can damage handmade ceramics over time, however, I always put mine in the dishwasher and microwave and have had no issues. 

Q: Why do handmade ceramics cost more than machine made?

A: Handmade ceramics are made in small batches and, at lease in my case, are made by just one person. Ceramics has a high material cost, especially if you‘re not buying the materials in super large quantities. There is also the overhead cost of studio space, kiln space, and electricity. All of this plus the time and skill of the artist. Things made by machine may serve the same purpose, but don’t have the unique qualities and personal touches that handmade items have. 

Q: Do you accept returns?

A: I do not, however, I do issues refunds if something arrives damaged. In this case, send an email to info@gooslings.com with photos of the damaged piece. You can find details about this in my shipping policies. 

Q: Do you give pottery workshops?

A: I do! If you live in Berlin or are just passing through, you can check my workshops page for up to date offerings or send me a message if you‘d like a private workshop. 

Q: How often do you update your shop?

A: I try to make a shop update once a month, however for the exact date of the next one, it‘s best to sign up for my mailing list. 

Q: Can I make a custom order?

A: Yes! I love making custom pieces.

Q: What exactly can I customise?

A: Everything! Size (around how many millilitres it will hold), handle or no handle (mug vs cup), glaze color (I will send you a photo of my current glaze options), screen prints (choose from my designs or send me one of yours), words (names, quotes, nonsense, your choice!).

Q: How much does a custom piece cost?

A: The minimum cost for a custom order is 30€. The exact price will depend on the size and amount of detail in the piece. The order form has costs at the end. 

Q: How long will it take to ship my custom order?

A: This depends on the size of the order and my own time restraints. Each order takes a minimum of 3 weeks. A rush order (1-2 weeks) is possible (for some orders) for an extra cost. 

Q: I live in Berlin, can I pick my order up?

A: Absolutely! After I receive your filled out order form, I will contact you about estimated time and options for pick up.
